NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Alabama Crimson Tide delivered a commanding performance against the Kentucky Wildcats in the SEC quarterfinals, securing a decisive 99-70 victory. The game, often referred to as the "Kentucky Invitational" due to the Wildcats' strong fan presence, saw Alabama dominate for nearly the entire 40 minutes.
"These guys played great. It's the best game Jarin's played all year. I think he's peaking at the right time," said a Alabama Head Coach Nate Oats. "We earned a double bye, which I think helped us tonight. Kentucky played last night and they didn't look as fresh as we did", Oats said.
The victory marked Alabama's third win over Kentucky this season, a feat that was not lost on the team. "It's a really big accomplishment because, you know, they're a big blue blood and we're a new blue blood. So, you know, it feels good to beat them three times," said Alabama guard Mark Sears.
The Crimson Tide's performance was bolstered by multiple players scoring in double digits, showcasing the depth of the team. "It seemed like everyone had a good game," said Alabama Forward Grant Nelson. "Our last two games have really built our confidence", Nelson said.
Alabama now advances to face the Florida Gators, who previously spoiled Alabama's senior night in Tuscaloosa. The matchup is set to take place immediately following the Auburn Tigers' game against the Tennessee Volunteers, led by head coaches Bruce Pearl and Rick Barnes, respectively. Both Alabama and Florida will be vying for a spot in the SEC Tournament Championship game.
