ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Many in north and west Georgia are gearing up for severe weather on Saturday and Sunday.

Troup County, which is in a heightened risk for severe weather, was hit hard by an EF-3 tornado almost two years on March 26, 2023.

Emergency management officials said they don’t want to be caught off guard again.

“We certainly don’t want to see that in our community again or anybody else’s community for that fact,” Zac Steele, Troup County emergency management director, said. “I hope people learn from us on how to be better prepared instead of having a reactive approach.”
