OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A Florida man who set his employer’s semi-truck on fire at the Omaha airport learned his sentence in federal court Friday.

Kevin Kaedi, 27, was sentenced to five years in prison and three years on supervised release for malicious use of explosive materials.

On March 25, 2024, Kaedi disconnected his semi-truck’s tracking device so his employer — a Missouri-based trucking company called Prime, Inc. — could no longer see the movements of the vehicle. Kaedi parked it in the south cell phone lot at Omaha’s Eppley Airfield.

Six days later, on March 31, surveillance footage showed Kaedi renting a vehicle from the airport, driving back to the semi-truck and unloading items from the truck into the rental car before driving away. A few minutes later, a fire started inside the semi-truck and firefighters were called to extinguish it.

Investigators found a gas container and an incendiary device inside the truck, leading them to determine it to be a case of arson. Kaedi was ordered to pay nearly $60,000 in restitution as a result of the damages.

The ATF assisted Omaha’s Fire Investigation Unit in this case.
