Ah, St. Patrick’s Day — a joyous, green holiday to start off the spring season.

In honor of the Ireland-hailing celebration, a website has found which areas of North America are the most Irish.

According to a press release sent by CSB.ca, Pennsylvania is actually the seventh most Irish region in the entire continent.

CBS.ca researchers were able to determine this after analyzing the percent of the population that has Irish ancestry. They also factored in the number of Gaelic game clubs in the area; the number of Irish pubs, bars and restaurants; and Google search interest for St. Patrick’s Day.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Massachusetts ranked as the absolutely most Irish place in North America. Prince Edward Island — which is a Canadian province in the Gulf of St. Lawrence — ranked second while Newfoundland and Labrador — the country’s most easterly province — ranked third.

St. Patrick’s Day falls on Monday, March 17, this year. According to the Asscioated Press, the annual celebration, which honors St. Patrick, used to have more solemnity surrounding it back in the day; now, however, the day is full of boisterous crowds cramming into pubs whilst wearing shamrocks and whiskey jackets.

If you yourself plan on celebrating St. Patrick’s Day — sláinte!
