QB Watch 2018: Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield throws at least 2 TD for 24th straight game

The 12th installment reviewing how potential 2018 NFL Draft quarterbacks fared on Saturday:

SAM DARNOLD, USC

Result: The 11th-ranked Trojans (10-2) won 28-23 at home over unranked UCLA (5-6).

Statistics: Darnold was 17-of-28 passing for 264 yards, 0 TD and 1 INT.

Comment: Darnold failed to throw a TD pass for the third time this year, but ran for a 1-yard TD. … The Trojans were 2 of 10 on third down. … USC was outgained 501-417. … Darnold’s INT did not result in any points for UCLA.

Next week: USC is off. It will play Washington State or Stanford on Dec. 1 in Santa Clara, Calif., in the Pac 12 title game.

JOSH ROSEN, UCLA

Result: The unranked Bruins (5-6) lost 28-23 at No. 11 USC (10-2).

Statistics: Rosen was 32-of-52 passing for 421 yards, 3 TD and 1 INT.

Comment: Rosen threw TD passes of 11, 9 and 27 yards. The final TD came with 2:43 remaining, but the Bruins could not recover the on-side kick and never got the football back. … UCLA posted 501 yards of offense and was 10 of 19 on third down. … UCLA never led in the game.

Next week: UCLA hosts unranked California (5-6) on Friday (10:30 p.m.), FS1. The winner becomes bowl eligible.

MASON RUDOLPH, OKLAHOMA STATE

Result: The 13th-ranked Cowboys (8-3) lost 45-40 at home to unranked Kansas State (6-5).

Statistics: Rudolph was 32-of-53 passing for 425 yards, 3 TD and 2 INT.

Comment: The Cowboys entered as a 20-point favorite over K-State, but lose for the third time at home this year. The Wildcats became bowl eligible. … Rudolph almost helped engineer an amazing comeback. K-State led 42-13 with 5:22 left in the third quarter, but the Cowboys put together scoring drives of 75, 75, 83 and 39 yards to get within five points. Rudolph, though, threw incomplete on four straight plays to allow K-State to escape. … Rudolph’s two INT led to 14 K-State points.

Next week: Oklahoma State hosts unranked Kansas (1-10).

LUKE FALK, WASHINGTON STATE

Result: The 19th-ranked Cougars (9-2) were off.

Next week: The Cougars play at No. 18 Washington (8-2).

JOSH ALLEN, WYOMING

Result: Unranked Wyoming (7-4) lost 13-7 at home to unranked Fresno State (8-3).

Statistics: Allen did not play because of a shoulder injury sustained last week against Air Force. During the week, his family posted on Facebook that Allen had sustained a sprained AC joint.

Comment: For the season, Allen is 131 of 251 (56.2 percent) for 1,658 yards and 13 touchdowns. His streak of 24 consecutive starts ended.

Next week: Wyoming plays at unranked San Jose State (1-11), 5 p.m.

LAMAR JACKSON, LOUISVILLE

Result: Unranked Louisville (7-4) won 56-10 at home over unranked Syracuse (4-7).

Statistics: Jackson was 14-of-26 passing for 270 yards, 2 TD and 0 INT and rushed 12 times for 111 yards and 2 TD.

Comment: Louisville outgained Syracuse 727-335 and was plus-4 in turnover ratio. … Jackson had TD passes of 72 and 34 yards and TD rushes of 43 and 19 yards. … The Cardinals led 35-3 at halftime. … Louisville started with a TD drive before two possessions of failed fourth down plays.

Next week: Louisville plays at unranked Kentucky (7-4), 12 p.m. (SEC Network).

BAKER MAYFIELD, OKLAHOMA

Result: Fourth-ranked Oklahoma (10-1) won 41-3 at unranked Kansas (1-10).

Statistics: Mayfield was 20-of-30 passing for 257 yards, 3 TD and 0 INT.

Comment: The Sooners clinched a spot in the Big 12 title game and Mayfield made another Heisman Trophy statement (he’s at 31 TD and 5 INT this year). … Mayfield has at least 2 passing TD in 24 straight games. … Kansas’ captains snubbed Mayfield during the coin toss when he approached to shake their hands. First, what were they thinking? (Evidently, they weren’t). Second, that only lit more of a fire for the always-emotional-anyway Mayfield. … During one point of the game, he grabbed his groin area and cursed across to the Jayhawks sideline (he apologized after the game). … Mayfield threw TD passes of 34, 24 and three yards as the Sooners stayed alive for a College Football Playoff berth. … OU outgained KU 469-155.

Next week: Oklahoma hosts unranked West Virginia (7-4).

JAKE BROWNING, WASHINGTON

Result: The 18th-ranked Huskies (9-2) won 33-30 at home against unranked Utah (5-6).

Statistics: Browning was 26-of-35 passing for 354 yards, 2 TD and 0 INT.

Comment: The Huskies scored 10 points in the final 58 seconds to steal a win from the Utes. … UW tied the game on a two-yard rushing TD (Browning completed a fourth-down pass earlier in the drive) and forced a three-out by Utah. Browning and Co. took over at their 28-yard line with 29 seconds left. After a run play, Browning completed passes of 18 and 31 yards to set up the 38-yard game-winning field goal as time expired. … Browning set season highs in completions (26) and yards (354) – it was his first 300-yard game of the year. … UW outgained Utah 477-410.
