Punjab Kings will face Chennai Super Kings in match No. 53 of IPL 2024 on Sunday (May 5), which will be played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. The 11th league stage match for the defending champions will start at 3:30 p.m. IST. In the match against CSK, the Punjab Kings will look to create history and become the first team to win six matches in a row against the Men in Yellow. The Mohali-based side, which is co-owned by Preity Zinta, has won the last five IPL matches against Chennai Super Kings, which has helped them equal the Mumbai Indians record of winning five matches in a row against CSK, but if PBKS manages to get the better of CSK on Sunday, it will go past MI’s tally and become the first team to win half a dozen matches on trot against CSK.
In the last match played between CSK and PBKS on May 1, the Sam Curran-led side managed to defeat PBKS by seven wickets at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Jonny Bairstow and Rille Rossouw scored 40-plus runs each for Punjab to help them chase down the target of 163 in 17.5 overs for the loss of three wickets.
The match between PBKS and CSK on Sunday afternoon in Dharamsala will be a must-win for both teams as they are in the race to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoffs. A win for CSK can take them to the No. 3 position in the points table, whereas if PBKS win by a big margin, they can pip CSK and take the No. 5 position in the points table.

Pathirana is back for CSK

Star Sri Lanka pacer Matheesha Pathirana, who missed the last match between CSK and PBKS, has joined the team and will be seen in action for the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side in Dharamsala, but the team will miss the services of Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman, who has returned to his country.
